ITIL v3 Foundation

IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)^® is a set of best practices for aligning the needs of an organization with the services IT provides and has become the most widely used framework of IT management in the world. ITIL standards are owned by AXELOS, but has authorized partners to provide education, training, and certification.

The ITIL v3 Foundation certification is the entry level qualification which offers candidates a general awareness of the key elements, concepts and terminology used in the ITIL Service Lifecycle. ITIL v3 Foundation provides the linkages between Lifecycle stages, the processes used and their contribution to Service Management practices.

The pay rate of ITIL Foundation certificate holders is skewed as there are 6 levels of ITIL Certification available, in which ITIL Foundation is a prerequisite for advancement. So although the pay rate may look high, you should note that many of these people in turn have a much higher certification level on top of the basic ITIL Foundation. We do not have the data showing the average rate for people who only have the ITIL Foundation certification, but you can see where your potential growth can be.
