ITIL Expert Certification

ITIL certifications can be broken into 6 levels. At the lowest level, ITIL Foundation is required in order to proceed further in the ITIL Qualification Scheme Structure. Upon receiving the ITIL Foundation certification, you can move into either the ITIL Intermediate Lifecycle or Capability certifications, then even further to the Managing Across the Lifecycles certification. Above that would be the ITIL Expert Certification, then topped out at ITIL Master Certification.

ITIL Expert Certification is awarded to candidates who have achieved a range of ITIL qualifications and have achieved a well-rounded, superior knowledge and skills base in ITIL Best Practices. There is no exam to become an ITIL Expert, but candidates must obtain a minimum of 22 credits from ITIL qualification or complementary products.

The average pay rate of ITIL Expert certificate holders is skewed as mentioned in the ITIL Foundation certification. It appears lower than the average pay rate of ITIL Foundation certificate holders due to the nature of how the structure is built up. By no means does that mean that if you become an ITIL Expert, you will get a pay cut. But on the contrary. The increased level of ITIL Certifications you receive, the more marketable you make yourself, and the more likely you would be to meet the higher level job criteria in this area of business.
